30 Days of Light – Da Gadderie, Lerwick Museum and Archives 2012

In 2011 I rented ‘The Booth’ (a studio accommodation in Scalloway run by the Scottish arts organisation WASPS ) for a month. It was June and the days were long the nights almost non-existent. I was wild for the experience and explored like a maniac honing in on particular locations that I would return to time and again such as the island of Muckle Roe. I must have traveled the rough track across it’s interior, my bike loaded up with my painting kit over a dozen times in that month.

The paintings I produced during that month of fevered activity formed the main body of work that went into this show at Da Gadderie, at Lerwick Museum the following year. I supplemented the collection with two or three oils at my studio back home.
